Founded by retired Lieutenant Commander Tim Scoggins, SOCRATES ® is a website created to help students succeed.
About SOCRATES®
SOCRATES® is the student support website available only through the Higher Education Resource Center (HERC). SOCRATES was designed from the student’s perspective, based on feedback from students from the military branches served in the past, as well as students pursuing degrees from the general public across the nation.

Meet Our Founder
Mr. Scoggins has spent his entire life serving others: he began his adulthood as a paramedic before transitioning to become a firefighter for the Army. Thereafter, he became a pilot and transferred to the Coast Guard to rescue people. Before retiring from the military, he rose to become the Service Chief of Voluntary Education for the entire USCG.
Tim Scoggins served for more than 20 years in the military, always with a willing heart to lay his life down for those in need. He continues to live his life trying to help as many as he can
